Private Music Instructor since 1978

Pat has been a private music instructor of the viola da gamba since 1978 before leaving Southern California to relocate in Ashland Oregon. Her practice has largely been the result of and adjunct to her career as a performer, forged through over 30 years at OSF where she performed to audiences of hundreds six nights a week on the Green Show Stage. Her early studies started her on the bass viol, but she quickly shifted to the comfortable and utilitarian tenor, which afforded her the opportunity to play a variety of parts from high to low.

Expanded Range

Pat expanded in the early 2000’s to include the bass viol, and specifically the seven string French Baroque bass. Joining forces with the masterful player Michal Palzewicz, the group: Duo Jetté was created, and still concertizes today.

In order to expand her teaching skills, O’Scannell learned the treble, and now can competently coach players on all three voices of viola da gamba.

Ensembles

Pat is always on the lookout for players interested in learning to play the consort viol. The Rogue Consort of Viols is the MUSICA MATRIX group that includes such players when the need arises.
