Southern Oregon lovers of Early Music were treated to an inspiring concert by Hallifax and Jeffrey.
The duo, Peter Hallifax & Julie Jeffrey, performed a selection of pre-revolution French Baroque music played on two bass gambas at the Ashland Springs Hotel a few weeks ago.
The viol de gamba is bowed string instrument popular in the 15th century. It is well-suited to the blending of harmonies and intricate rhythms popular during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
